Ok, I have a problem. I find it very hard to cut lake superior agates. It's a special occasion when you find one and they're super cool as is. It's how I got interested in rocks. I came across this one without a lot going on and figured I couldn't make it worse so gave it a shot. Before... And after. Probably one of the highest domes I've made and was tough to photograph! Can see my arm in there too lol Thanks for looking!

Wow! Cab doesn’t look at all like the rock!! You probably have the other half of the rock in its original form. Thanks!

This is exactly what drives me crazy about Fairburn Agates...what's hiding on the inside doesn't always make itself evident anywhere on the exterior! That stone is absolutely gorgeous! (And your arm is photogenic as well! )

Are you sure that was from the same rock?!? I never would have guessed the inside would have looked that amazing based on the outside. That one was well worth cutting open!

Nice work. You took the Michelangelo approach, I see:
“The sculpture is already complete within the marble block, before I start my work. It is already there, I just have to chisel away the superfluous material.”
Just substitute "cabochon" where it says "statue" and "agate" where it says "marble block." Oh, and I guess "grind" replaces "chisel."

Thanks everyone! I looked through the pile of LSA's tonight to try and find a weekend project. Will post if I can get my act together.
