Well I took Friday off and took the family to Erie, PA Presque Isle to be exact- Well a Beach dwellers dream- 10 miles of sandy beach and Beautiful Lake Erie to provide waves and water- Well I took a couple walks in the surf (so to speak) and collected these goodies- mostly Quartz nuggets but a few Granites, a Jasper or 2 (no telling where they came from) and a few other neat ones. So these were so nice that I decided to go to pre polish with the real smooth ones so the 3rd tumbler went online today! Ahhh life is good!

Wow! Pretumbled tumbles. That does save some time in the coarse grit!

That's cheating Stefan, you are supposed to go through all the tumbling steps to prove your patience as an offering to the tumbling god, who then grants you nicely polished stones...hope he grants your wish even with the shortcut Congrats on the new tumbler.

nice rocks Stefan I have a lot of those rounded rocks too, but a lot of the time they have little pits or chips so I tumble them in coarse for a week or 2. Then I discover a few new chips, so I tumble in coarse some more. Then more chips, ect... then the next thing you know, you're up to 6 weeks of coarse before they're chip free. It just took you just as long as it would take for a regular rough. But that's not the case for ALL my "pre-shaped" rocks. A lot get taken out during the 1st or 2nd week of coarse and then get replaced with other rounded rocks. But it takes just as long to fill a barrel for the next stage. Hope you have better luck

THese were very nicely pre tumbled- the sand on this beach was soo soft- The rocks were just incredibly smooth- I'm thinking that I'll just visit here once a year- Take a box of rough- toss it out as far as possible and comeback the following year to collect the rocks LOL

Cool Stefan! PA has some really cool rocks! I'd move there but too much snow, I gotta be where it's warm. Anyway everytime I've been to PA i've found more cool rocks, mostly by the rivers. Marian
ps I'ts not cheating if you skip to pre polish lol, I do it all the time with stuff I find near the rivers and at the shore, It saves money to let mother nature do it for you...

LMAO- Xena- I took the detectors- But It was so freakin hot on the dry sand that I just bagged it! I swear the heat coming off the sand was close to 100 degrees- I mostly stayed on the wet sand collecting (only 3 chunks of seaglass) I told the wife I was gonna detect in the evening- but then the rain (downpour) started and we called it a day- I started these beauties in prepolish- They just seems so ready- I almost went straight to polish but I put the whoa nelly on it and compromised with pre polish- oh and pellets- I don't want any fighting in the barrel so lots of pellets too- I have another batch that is a bit chipped and rougher that are gonna have to go thru a quick run in 60/90 then the regular routine! So NO I did not swing my money stick on the beach But Xena- the only regulation is that you cant hunt where they have lifeguards- they have about 10 miles of beach and only section off 100 ft sections for swimming- and those they move every few days- And I didn't see any other MDers their- so this fall I'm planning a hunt with my dad and a few friends!
