Yes, different hardness stones are more difficult to work but think about the satisfaction you get when you make one as nice as yours.

Yup, I smashed it on wooden work bench not the easiest Stone to work with Yep, I make a lot of my preforms of brecciated material by flexing the slab, smacking it on a bench and finally dropping it onto the floor. I'd rather find the unhealed or partially healed fractures early. "Not the easiest material to work with" is the mission statement of brecciated jasper. So... the fact that you produced an awesome cab says a lot.

Beautiful result. I will try your flexing/smacking trick sometime .. but my luck is I would end up with tumbler filler.

Beautiful result. I will try your flexing/smacking trick sometime .. but my luck is I would end up with tumbler filler. Sometimes that does happen, but it's still better to find out early than to have it come apart later. Weirdly, that doesn't happen at 80 or 220 as often as one would think. It hurts when it happens somewhere in the 600 to 3000 range.

Agreed with the others, sometimes it hurts but better to find the issue before it's all polished up. Good work on the cab!

Your cab looks great! Good job on a touchy stone. Thanks...the original shape was bigger...but the cab had its own ideas and left me no choice

Beautiful result. I will try your flexing/smacking trick sometime .. but my luck is I would end up with tumbler filler. This was my first time working with this material...had read it can be difficult so figured “why not” and gave it a good hard smack onto my work bench...the first picture does not show all the smaller pieces that went directly into the “filler” box...thanks for the compliment, I have learned a lot from your videos

I think I’ll work some other material before trying the second cab from this slab, hopefully easier material
