Tami what kind of pliers do you have? I have a pair of bent needlenose pliers but I've had to put tape on the jaws as they scratch the rings - specially the colored ones - I've had to tape the jaws (heavy on the tape too) of my needlenose pliers as these have teeth, the rings are half hard (here I go again with half hard) and too hard to open/close with fingers. How do you protect the wire? Bandaids?

Tweet get your self a jump ring ring- a little metal ring that you put on your finger- It has a groove in it to place the jump ring in then you just twist to open and close-

Stefan cant use that as these rings have to be woven together and it's just not practical for that - it's a good thing if U just want to open them to add a bead or trinket but for weaving or making a bracelet it's not handy you need two pairs of pliers to get into tight spots

If you want to get a ring to open the jump rings don't go to the expense of one of those jump ring rings, I use a small hose clamp you know one of those clamps that is round and you turn the screw to tighten or loosen the clamp, that is what I use. The pliers I usee are straight needle nose pliers that have teeth, because it is straight the jump ring goes in between the teeth and I rarely get teeth marks, the other pair of pliers I use are square nosed and doesn't have any teeth. I have tried to use toothless pliers in booth hands but I had several jump rings jump through the air. The wire cutters I use are flush cutters by Xuron. I would give you the website that I used but one I didn't keep it and two I didn't get great service, I had to call and e-mail them several times until I finally got my cutters. Tami

Tami I had to put medical tape onto the pliers as the teeth were scratching the wire, they're straight almost needle nose and the teeth are very close together it. I try to get 2 points of the ring into the pliers to close it as if i only get the end of the wire, the wire gets a little distorted. The color scrapes off the colored rings, and the aluminum rings only show a little marring but I've even taped up my pliers that have no teeth as the metal was scratching anyways, I use them in both hands - albeit that my projects so far include bracelets so I can use both hands
I got a pair of flush cutters and they are FANTASTIC - got them as a birthday present last year - woudln,t be without them
