I'll bet that a lot more than one of those comet fragments hit the earth around that time. we just know about one of them. That comet had to come from the eruption of a specific sized star to have ejected so much of a single element - iridium. I once had an ounce of gold nuggets from Beauty Bay Alaska smelted. They dinged me because the gold had so much rare earth metals in it. Ever melt gold or silver and pour it into water? that was the shapes of the nuggets. I believe they were meteorites.
