Looks like a bone encapsulated in limey material. That dark chip appears to be chert.

Looks like a bone encapsulated in limey material. That dark chip appears to be chert. The dark chip took a scratch from my hammer point but flaked well I wonder if it could be knapped. Anyone have any ideas on best way to expose the fossil?

I've had fair luck immersing them in a muriatic acid and water mix. I use a 1:1 ratio and start cautiously for only a few minutes.
