How do you go about selecting rough? Do you have any kind of inkling that it's going to be as spectacular as it is?

It seems like you have SO much material that really is "off the charts"...even the material you're hounding is beyond stellar.

I’m one of those people who can store a lot of information in my head if I’m interested.
When I’m looking at rough at a shop or hounding, I’m constantly comparing what I see with what I know in my head to be the best example/quality of any given type of rock. The knowledge stored comes from looking at a lot of rock and photos of what are considered top grade examples.
When I see great material I get it if the price is right, and more often than not the seller has no idea of the quality potential.

You definitely have a knack for using your knowledge to "judge a book by it's cover"! I will admit...I do envy that.
