I was in the right place at the right time and saw a Facebook posting of items for sale near where I live. Drove the 10 miles through a beautiful, wooded area on narrow, snow/ice covered roads. It was definitely worth it. Seller even through in some extras. On my way home I gave some items to a good friend, so was unable to photograph them.

Nice catch. Are the pink ones in the upper left Rose Quartz ? If so, they may have stars.

I wonder how they polished the cylinders? ie. drill core. Nice collection. The spheres are great.

I love it all! Interesting how the the cylinders are garnering a lot of attention. I too was immediately visually drawn to them!

Here are a couple better photos of the core samples. The colors are a little washed out form the flash. And what I think is a snowflake obsidian sphere.

I like those stalactite cuts.

I am guessing the drill core was polished with sandpaper. ie. wet sand with a sheet wrapped around it and then move to finer and finer grits.

Don't know for sure what I will do with them, but they are interesting. I cut rounds from some drill core and put them into a rock tumbler. Worked good, but I had no idea what to do with the stones afterwards. Mine were dolomite (soft). Next time, I will try to collect something harder such as quartz. Someone suggested they be cut lengthwise instead, so I might try that too. I have collected drill core which contained silver and that was pretty cool. I have yet to find any with visible gold.
