Just another example of hidden treasure in rocks. My question, Mel, is what made you pick up those particular rocks? Were parts of the insides visible at all, or was it just lucky picks?

textiger: Wish I could take credit. These agates were all gathered by cowboys on some of the big ranches in Chihuahua, Mexico probably thirty years ago. (That's how they made a little extra spending money) I purchased them from the dentist who worked on the cowboys teeth and have had a large pile of them in my yard for all that time. Some where chipped by the cowboys to give an idea of what was inside but most, when you cut them, are a surprise! Like you've said, each one you slab is a little treasure hunt!

Wow! I've been thinking that our local lace agate looks like Mexican, and that's so true. If my stuff were cut I bet it would be awesome -- the mex has all the vugs and such but they are part of the slice. The exteriors of those are amazing, though. Ours are much more obvious.

Sabre-
Wow that is so neat. Ugly and drab on the outside, spectacular and spellbinding on the inside. I'll bet you're having the time of your life cutting those guys up. How's the saw working out? Looks pretty good from here.
Thanks so much for posting those exteriors!! It's so neat to see the before and after shots.

Gaetz: The tile saw is really working great! Cuts way faster than my lapidary rig. Some of the nodules in this pic were cut with the big lapidery saw though, as these nodules are pretty big. ( the largest is about 4" by 6"). Too big for the tile saw.
