A for-everyone place to post macro shots so we don't hijack other threads! Post here if you like! Please post an identity of the rock if known! Texas Rio Grande agate:

Thanks for starting this thread, Grant! I can't wait to see the amazing pictures that will be posted here. Here are 3 of my first macros. All 3 are crazy lace. The first 2 show an area about 1/4 to 1/2 inch wide. The rock in the last picture is zoomed out much more, but the entire rock is less than an inch in any one direction. I need to get more tumbles done so I can get more pictures!

Just to clarify, are we doing macro rock shots, or macro shots of anything? Guess I'll get these in before the answer

Macro anything is fine I do think! Good photos are enjoyable.
I imagine it will be 90% rocks but I love the idea of any macro.

Keep it up, I love seeing the down and dirty details you don't get to see in 'regular' pics..

saxplayer - I just had to say THANK YOU for starting this thread! I don't have the capabilities to take macro shots like a lot of members are taking, but I can do a lot of drooling!

A natural eye for composition helps, but I may be able to help with technical questions. Maybe...

Unbelievable! I have never seen a bot with speckles before. That is drop dead gorgeous.

My 'Dexter' stone. If you don't know that reference, well, somebody will. I have been lucky enough to get my hands on some good rough material here in the middle of KY, where decent rocks are extremely rare. As everybody here knows, you just have to work all angles to find it!

That Blue Botswana is a stunner, Randy! I almost prefer the picture of the entire rock because it just shows how perfect that thing is all around. And those speckles just make it better!

I couldn't resist playing around some more. Still using the point and shoot and the flashlight on my phone. I really need to get some more rocks polished up so I can really start to have fun. First up is a different crazy lace. This is one I have yet to ID. It is mostly clear with some bits of pink and gray/brown. I liked this one because it reminded me of an image from the Hubble space telescope.
