This is the first cab I've done with a druzy pocket...let alone two! LOL There were several soft spots in this cab, but I had to try it, because to me those druzys were dreamy! LOL I tried to keep the bail off the stone as much as possible on this one because I really did want to highlight the stone on this one. Anyway, thanks for taking a gander and critiques and comments are always welcomed. Edit: I guess I don't know for sure if those would be called druzy pockets or vugs...

Thanks Robin! I wish the cab would've turned out a lot better...but those soft areas were a complete booger! So, hopefully this one will pull the attention to the pockets rather than the pits! LOL

There you go trying something new again! My daughter is a huge fan of those crystalline pockets.
I like how the decorative swirls form what looks like a butterfly when viewed from the back.

I have one more preform like this one...I took the slab from the other side of the cut...so it should be very similar to this one. If I could take macro shots like you're taking, the crystalline pockets look even more awesome! LOL

Nice cab and wrap. Love the crystal pockets (whatever you want to call them). The back is very stylish.

Very nice! I love how the back is neat, too. If I am talking to a rock person, I say druzy vug. If I am talking to a customer, I say druzy pocket. Vug is an ugly word to me. It just doesn't sound pretty like druzy.

I try to keep the back as neat as possible...just in case the wrap would flip around, I wouldn't want it looking messy. Very nice! I love how the back is neat, too. If I am talking to a rock person, I say druzy vug. If I am talking to a customer, I say druzy pocket. Vug is an ugly word to me. It just doesn't sound pretty like druzy. Thanks Tela! I like the sounds of druzy pocket far better than the word vug as well! LOL

Man, you've been busy! Nice cab and wrap, I like them both... Thanks Mike! I wish the cab would've turned out a little better. The soft spots in this one were massive. I've got one more of these cabs to get it right. LOL

I like how you show the backs of the rock too. I don't do it because it takes up a bunch of picture space, but I try to make the back just as appealing as the front. Some times when wearing a necklace, it flips around during the day, and is not noticed, but it is showing the back for a while. So I keep that it mind. Many don't show the back, because that is where the true horror lies. Especially when working with many wires.
These are really cool. And I congratulate you stepping out and taking a chance, buying tools and materials and putting your work out there for everyone to see. It is not easy. Most are afraid to do it.
I can't wait to see the next one, because I just noticed that you posted your 4th effort below.
Keep up the great work!

Thanks Bill! I feel the SAME way you do with regards to the back. Some of the tutorials I watched on YouTube, I was surprised at how they left the backs! They inevitably flip around at times...and I wouldn't want a "rat nest" showing!

Quite amazing. Good job on both. Thanks Stephan! Tonight I started working on another cab from this same piece of rough. I didn't get past the 180 stage. I'll probably finish it up tomorrow (later today I guess by this time! LOL). I know this other piece has the same soft type spots in it...and I don't know how it's going to cab just yet.

I've come back to look at this pendant a couple of times now. I really like the vugs in the stone. I looked up "vug" just to make sure that I had my work correct, as spellchecker does not approve, and google came up with "Vanguard Growth Index Fund ETF"... Ok!

I think this one is my dad's favorite of the ones I've done so far. I too love the vugs (druzy pockets for Tela! ) - but I wished the cab wouldn't have had the soft spots in the stone like it does...but I suppose I didn't make the stone, just the cab!
