Well I finally finished some of the apache tear that Tellfamily sent me. None of them turned out to be clear like the apache tear that I have seen in the past, so I am thinking it might be more black obsidian, doesn't matter it is still beautiful. For the polish I used 1 1/2 TBSP of Cerium Oxide and 1 1/2 TBSP of aluminum oxide. I decided to mix them so I can use up some of the other polish I have. Ignore the white flecks the piece of clear plastic has some residue from the rough I scanned earlier. Tami

Mixing polish is a big no no!!
If you polish them again in just cerium oxide they will shine right up for you!!

I did that and the two pieces of mahogany obsidian are the only ones that are clear. Little interesting tidbit on the mahogany in the picture if you turn it one direction you can see partially through it and if you turn it the other direction you can't see any light through it. You literally can see different layers. Tami

The picture doesn't do them justice, they have a perfect glassy shine on them. Tami
