Hello to all my old and new friends! Yes this is really me! I have been gone for so long I can't even remember how to post lol. Life really got in the way since last I visited, but I missed the hobby so much and the crazy lazy hazy days are now behind me (I hope) and, well as they say "you Can go home again" Much has changed, but I still have my tumblers (not running currently, but soon to be cleaned and oiled and spinning once again), my saw (yup the good ole WOrkforce 7 inch and a Harbor freight 4 inch) and of course Sandmans (gosh is he still around?) old Lortone 2 wheel cabber. Oh and more rough than I know what to do with lol. Just a few quick updates for those interested. I changed Jobs after 16 years. My old boss changed the pay structure and I was not feeling good about it, so I left and went to work in a military contract assembly job building parts for tanks. Good work- crappy pay. My son went through a messy divorce and a horrible drug problem (almost ended my marriage and my life uggh), but he fights the demons now and is coming up on 3 years clean (and I am so proud of him!) He remarried and has 2 girls (and another on the way- still not sure of the sex). Daughter graduated college and just got promoted to lead (manager) in a food manufacturing lab. Wife changed jobs at the same time I did and went from a high school guidance counselor to working with at risk elementary kids. I know I know blah blah blah, but I really missed being on here and gabbing with you all. Thats it for now. I will let you all know when things are back up and running.

What the heck is with auto correct? GOtta go in and edit some very strange wording lol I thought a couple things in the original post were a bit "odd"...but I wasn't about to judge! Welcome back...from a relative "newbie" from South Dakota!

Welcome back. It's great to retain members from way back because it helps link us to knowledge other early members no longer share with us. It amazes me to look at some really old threads and see the depth and width of knowledge that has been shared in the early days of RTH. I often wish some of those folks were still active here.

Good to see you’re still kickin’, Stefan.
Just for the record, gang . . . that 7-inch saw he mentioned carries serial number 001 since he’s the one that introduced that yellow gem to this merry band of rock tumblers.

... and of course Sandmans (gosh is he still around?) old Lortone 2 wheel cabber. Welcome back Stefan - sadly John passed away several years ago. I never got a chance to meet him online (or yourself) as I joined in 2013 and you both had mostly stopped posting at that point. We're glad you are back for the next chapter. For some crazy reason they let me take over here in 2016 and from the looks of it I'll be steering the ship into the next iteration of the Proboards software v6 in the next year or so - hopefully without hitting any icebergs. It will be interesting so stick around this time

The rocks and good folks on this forum can wait. Congrats to you and your family getting sorted out. Especially, your son. I'm sure that was a struggle that is beyond te reach of most. It shows he has massive inner strength and had commendable loving support.

Parfive!! serial number 001 lol Yea I guess I was the one. That saw is still kicking and was actually almost lost as my Dad lent it to a friend (without asking me first) who wanted to cut tile for a bathroom. Guy had it for a year!!! I finally got it back with an apology and a new blade! Sad to hear about Sands. What a generous and talented soul. When I bought his cabber, he sent along a bunch of cabbing material and made me promise not to tell anyone. He sold me the grinder and all the belts, only to discover that his belts had been ruined and he felt horrible. He probably sent me $100 worth of slabs for about $35 worth of belts. Guy was a class act all around. I'm excited to be back and hopefully sharing some tumblers soon! I believe (according to my notes) I have a polish barrel that needs to be opened (probably ran for Way too long, but we shall see). Also dug through a couple of my boxes of rough-and-tumble man I forgot about all the goodies I had squirreled away! A box of Arizona Pet wood, a box of Agate from Richardsons Ranch, 2 dozen Botswana Agate nodules (old stock), A box of OLD OLD OLD Montana Agates (collected in the 70s?) a box of India Snakeskin agate. That was just the boxes in one stack on the floor. Ahh I'm babbling now lol. Thank you all for the warm welcome and I look real forward to getting to know all you newer members and re-connecting with my old friends!

BEEF!!!! Nope I did not. Still got it and have laid it out no less than a dozen times, only to change my mind again and again and again. I have nearly convinced my wife to let me spend some money on a CabKing, as I can not seem to get a hold of 8 inch diamond belts at a reasonable price (200 plus each- for the price of a complete set I can have a CabKing!). Then I swear I will work that fern.
