I have only used the Lortone Grits. I bought the basic 4 Step Kit ( 60/90, 120/220, AO Pre, AO polish which I use in my home tumbling, but at work I start with 46/70 then 12/-220 then 600.... I was looking at the Lortone site and see they sell a 3F that appears to be 320/400. They also sell Alpha Alumina Polish which I believe to be "finer" than the regular AO. Does anyone use the 3F or the Alpha Alumina? Just curious, what products you use.

In my 12 lb Rotary 3/4 full of Agate and Jasper
I go with 60/90 for a few weeks until my rocks are well rounded. Then I will tumble with 120/220 for 2 weeks. After that I will cleanse with Borax overnight. For Polish, I like AO polish for another couple of weeks Then burnish with a little bit of soap to cleanse the residue off.

Rotary recipe: 60/90 until I'm happy (average 4 to 8 weeks with recharge every 2 weeks) 120/220 for 2 weeks 500 for 2 weeks (with pellets) Tripoli (pre polish) for 2 weeks with pellets AO or Tin Oxide for 2 weeks with pellets (sometimes I run the AO out to 3 or 4 weeks) Borax and pellets for a 24 hour burnish

This is my 1st tumble so this might not count for anything, but my method is as follows:
80 grit 220 grit 500 grit Borax 500 A0 w/borax 1000 AO w/borax AO polish w/borax Borax
If there is something wrong with that let me know now as I am still in step 1.
I also have 60/90 for larger harder rocks or when I use my 10 lbs barrels.
