Hello fellow rockers! I made a video of me carving a raw piece of Rhodonite into a pendant. Not sure if this piece qualifies as a cabochon?? I am really liking this method for tying up a rock. I hope you enjoy!

This would probably be better somewhere else, but I'll leave it here.
I love what you did with the bindings!! Very nice.

I'll echo the bindings sentiment. I see no issues with calling it a freeform cab. It doesn't fit neatly into any existing category, so maybe another one is needed for pendants that are not wire-wrapped in a setting derived from metal-smithing. Mine would be like that, as I tend to use glue-tabs, but I think I will try this. This method also seems really suitable for beach cobbles that are left unpolished (I'm thinking beach jade, in particular). An "other pendants" (or similar) category could also include drilled pendants.

Actually, the Metal Smithed section is pretty broad, too.

Hello there, Yes, I wasn't sure where to stick it as it is technically not a cab and a cab at the same time??? It is a bit of a mash-up as it is also not a 'toki' (I learned that a toki is the word for an adze head) but I do like the wrapping and other similiar type wrappings. I want to explore other methods of tying stones for this so stay tuned for more... Thank you for letting me post here, I really enjoy this whole forum, there is a ton of knowledge floating around here to absorb.

Mac! I love the video of your outdoor shop and the rock piles all over the yard!! This is great stuff! Man, I absolutely love being outdoors at all times doing ... anything really. So when I see you at the grinder in your outdoor shot, I get jealous! Man, you have got a cool collection of rocks too, and the pendant is really creative. I have never thought about using something other than wire to wrap with.
