Are there any preferences between a single barrel or double barrel Lot-O tumbler? It will cost more to buy two singles vs 1 double.

Aside from the price of the units themselves, the biggest consideration is whether you'll be able to (or want to) process enough rough to feed them. For my setup, I'm finding that I process almost enough for one barrel with a 15lb and a 3lb rotary going 24/7. Between those two, I can pull out about enough to run a one week finishing process in the Lot-O consistently. Of course, some people do rough for much longer/shorter than others, but I'd need to at least double that to justify two barrels. If anything, right now I'd add more rotaries running rough for my setup.

More rotary tumblers, single barrel Lot-O will be a formula for happiness.

@usmc15 Also in case you didn't know but on a double you have to run both bbls. No leaving one empty if you do not have enough fill. I eventually (once rotary capacity increases) will get a second single. One last thought it the same motor powers the double as the single but doing twice the work.

Can you run a single barrel at a time in a double-barrel tumbler? Just asking because I am starting to think about graduating from (or maybe just adding to) my starter single small tumbler.

Good question, how will the barrels affect each other? I have noticed that most places are sold out of single barrels but not double barrels, could that be saying something?

Hi all: I’m hoping this message is in the right place. I purchased the single barrel Lot-O tumbler on 12/30/2020. The machine was finicky from day one in that often times the fan wheels would spin but the rocks were NOT moving. I would have to make sure the fan wheels weights were *perfectly* aligned and sometimes give the wheels a manual start before the rocks vibrated. On 3/10/2020, the motor (apparently) died. No aligning of the fans or manual spinning could get the machine to do anything except hum. I spoke to Shawn at Rock Shed (where I’d bought machine) and he advised I contact manufacturer. I was able to reach after a couple of tries and was advised to mail the faulty motor to address on Lot-O. It was *extremely* difficult for me to remove the hex nuts to free the motor and I hope that I am able to install the replacement motor. I am NOT handy and I don’t have a handy spouse (or any spouse or bf or reliable friend I can impose upon to do “simple” things so I need a reliable tumbler. I wanted to buy a second Lot-O because the machine (when it works) does a beautiful job. I do NOT want to have to constantly replace motors (under warranty or not, for me this is a huge hassle.) For those who own Lot-Os with this Fasco motor (assembled in Mexico— one part made in Thailand)part imprints Thailand) In your opinion, please, is this a RELIABLE tumbler?
