The time has come for me to pass this grinder along. Here are the details: OLD OLD OLD(1970's) Lortone Grinder. Dual 8" Expando drums already plumbed for water with valves and tubing. 3 position pulley (I have never needed to run it any slower than high speed). Belt was changed when I got it but the original was fine (both belts squeal upon start up but I spray a little belt dressing on it and the belt has never slipped or burned) I used a Gates cogged belt so it should last another 100 years or so. Motor is a 1/3 HP Marathon brushed motor (rebuildable if it ever needs it) that has oil port that are filled ever 2 to 3 months. I added a flip switch to the motor for easier start up and stops. Metal tray does not leak and was painted by me a couple times (Rust-Oleum) Tray has a front drain. Padded rim (just pipe insulation) and splash Shields are included (one my be crack as it seems loose but they are just some plexi). I have a bunch of brand new belts as follows: SiC: 8-100 grit; 3-120 grit; 11-220 grit; 4-320 grit; 2-400 grit; 2-600 grit. I also have 2 AO belts in I believe 1200 grit (not sure as they are headed different but the are finer than 600). I have a 400, 600, and 1200 diamond belt with probably 75% life remaining (these are made in USA 3M diamond cloth and run about $137 new at Kingsley North) I also have a 3000 mesh diamond belt that is probably 50% life remaining (I'm right handed so the right side will show more wear than the left). I also have about 50 used SiC belts with less than 25% life (great for practice on cheap material or use on glass and softer stones). Also included is a leather belt charged with 14000 mesh diamond on the left half and 50000 mesh on the right, A cloth belt charged with 50000 paste and a repaired cloth belt charged with 12000 and 50000 paste. I also will include a start up jig for keeping the belts lined up until the drum expands enough to grab (lol a hunk of old paneling that fits between the drums). A piece of carpet that I put in the base when polishing with the leather belt (you run it dry and it can get grabby as the stone heats up- NOT that I ever had a cab smashed into the tray and shatter- NOPE that never happened.) Standard 115 volt household plug. Heck I will even toss in a couple rolls of finger tape to avoid those learning curve brush burns. So what is not included? The wood base the tray and motor are mounted on (way to costly to ship for a hunk of plywood), the water butcher (I hung a 5 gallon from the ceiling with a pressure fit drain and that is also not worth shipping, but I can provide pictures of the setup of needed.) The Diamond paste (unless it is a deal breaker, but I don't have a lot left anyway), the belt dressing (I use STP in the blue spray can). Your underlying hidden talent. This setup is ready to run once you get it all mounted up. It is a bit loud on start up (belt squeal) but the unit runs with minimal vibration and the drums are still solid and hold tight (never ever stalled the motor or had a belt slip). You need to be aware that a belt has to be on both drums as they will hit the metal hood without one. I would like to get $900 out of this and I will ship it free to the Continental US only and cover the PP fee. I live in Western New York State and can meet within 2 hours of Buffalo if you desire local pickup (or come to my house and get it!) Local pick up I will discount the shipping costs (I'm guessing it is going to cost $100 to ship).
