I've been on here long enough that I'm sure you all were expecting this. Some more freeformed and dremeled cabs, finished in the T-5 vibe. I'll probably make a few posts and post individual pics, if you get bored skip the rest of them. And thanks for looking!
In this one is a group pic plus my failures. To me the failures are ones that undercut or pitted in the vibe (on the edges or on the face).

Shiny! I love the depth in the second one. Thanks Tela! I had high hopes for that one but I thought the brownish part would undercut.

Nice shiny stones! Good job, Mr. Mike! The shine, yes, but the cabs not so lucky! I'm still trying to figure out which stones my "method" will work with and which ones it won't. Thanks Robin!

Shiny! I love the depth in the second one. Thanks Tela! I had high hopes for that one but I thought the brownish part would undercut. To me, the undercutting looks almost deliberate. In any case, it works on that particular cab. Nice batch.

Love these pics Mike! My eyes were immediately drawn to the Palm Root and the Noreena in the group pic!

I really like Palm Root, and I couldn't get a picture of the Noreena that didn't make it look dull for some reason... I did a cab of Noreena a couple months ago. I had a real hard time getting a good shine on that stuff...but I love it. I've been on the lookout for some affordable rough to give it another shot.

Thanks Tela! I had high hopes for that one but I thought the brownish part would undercut. To me, the undercutting looks almost deliberate. In any case, it works on that particular cab. Nice batch. I agree with Stephan and Tela [ rockjunquie ], Mike. There is no way that second cab is a failure! The undercut works well with the cab's shape and patterns. I'm anxious to see what you do with it. Feature it.

I had the most beautiful varaiscite cab. It was purchased by me and had a great even polish with no undercutting in the soft tan matrix. Well, I tumbled my finished piece in steel shot as I often do. The matrix undercut quite a bit. Somehow, it really worked and I think it looked better.

Ok, I'll listen to you guys...this once. In all seriousness, I really was under the impression that this kind of result meant the cab ended up in the trash can. Maybe I'll have to change my thinking!

Change your thinking. Free form means just that- Free! Amazing work for sure. I have one minor criticism (and I have a similar problem) your background for the individual shots distracted me. There was not enough contrast and I felt that the rocks did not take center stage as they should! I'm being picky but your skills are amazing and they should be the entire focus! Oh that last plume agate has me drooling! What material is it?

I used the same background in my other individual shots, maybe I'll try another one next time. I appreciate the compliments.! As far as that last one goes, I can't remember right now. I'll try to remember and get back to you on that!
