Hi Everyone! I'm so brand new to this hobby that I don't even have my equipment yet! As of now I am interested in tumbling primarily. I plan on making my purchase this week - I just need to find time to sit down and do it. I plan on getting all the things I need to get started tumbling from the Rock Shed.
I am located on Long Island, NY - from what I can tell, not a hotbed of rockhounding material, but I guess that's what ordering rough tumble material from online vendors is for.
I by chance saw a video recommended on my feed and I became intrigued right away...I have other "off the beaten track" hobbies so I knew to go in search of an online forum and with away found RTH. I've been reading posts over the last week or so trying to soak up as much info as I can.
I am a Do-It-Yourselfer type of person. I am a woodworker - I build furniture; do some lathe work, including smaller items (bowls, pens, etc); While I technically am a hybrid woodworker, I do enjoy my hand tools and building projects completely "unplugged". I haven a fairly good collection of safety razors (some straights), all of which I use in a rotation of some sort - no multi blade cartridges for me :-). I haven't done it in quite some time, but I also used to make my own soap. Now that I think about it, maybe rock tumbling is right up my alley!
I can't wait to interact with everybody and learn as much as I can from everyone while I try my best to make some rocks shine!
