I've gotten in the habit of putting a drop of oil (3-in-1 oil) on the threads of my UV-18 before I put the nut holding the bowl on the shaft. I'm not sure if something like this would help as well. (Might be a better suggestion than using Mjollnir to remove the plate! LOL)

greig I hate to be the one to mention this but it needs to be said. What if you cut the pin then replaced it? It would be time consuming but maybe your only option,unless your wife is stronger than you.
