Showed up yesterday. SO freaking excited.
THE BOX!
Cut it OPEN! What could it be?
Out of confinement! YES
And the mess of assembly
All set up!
Loving this machine. So much quieter than the Lortone (not that it was super loud, but it old and belt driven). Assembly was pretty easy and overall a nice experience. There are a few things I will be changing. The drain hoses are about the thinnest cheapest plastic flex tubing I have ever seen (seriously like maybe 3 or 4 mil thick). They work but will be changed out for some real vinyl tube. The splash guards work but not well enough. I will be adding some more plastic sheets to extend the coverage. Not a huge fan of the hand rests, but I need to get used to the somewhat more forward position of the hand position. The water system is pump powered which is pretty sweet, except that I have a gravity fed system already in place so I may try to switch out to that system (one less thing to plug in lol). The wheels are amazing on this machine. Having come off the SiC belts of the Lortone you can imagine how amazed I was at the speed of hard Diamond wheels. I really need to relearn how to grind and polish as my first can was less than perfect (Yea I rushed it but I had fun). The polish pad (canvas with 14000K diamond paste) is pretty decent but I think I may go to a leather pad. the other end of the machine can take standard 1/2" arbor flat laps. I already have plans to build several acrylic laps and do some surface polishing. The machine also comes with a 360 grit flat lap plate for doing backs. Yes I'm gonna like that a real lot, and will probably pick up a couple other grits to compliment my flat lapping plans. Best part of the whole package is I used the Amazon affiliate link so the board gets a little support!
