Don't know if this thread will go any where, but I noticed pictures in the past of other pet besides cats and dogs. This is Ray my pet blind rooster (He's a little mini Cochin, with the fluffy feet) who lives in my wood working shop. Most of the times he stays under the work bench but sometimes he gets a wandering bug and wanders out the door and gets lost in the open yard. He's super mellow and I believe he went blind from the other roosters(that are gone) picking on him. Everytime I get on the phone in my shop he starts crowing no matter what time of the day it is.

I was going to post a picture of my goldfish but I think something went wrong with the camera after I submerged it. Have to get one of those waterproof cameras.

Yes, you can definitely hold him and lots of times he'll sing back. I'm always repositioning him so his lined up with his food otherwise he just picks at the air when he's hungry and thirsty. He's about half the size of an average hen. I also have three mini hens like him, hilarious to watch.... and very tame.
I didn't turn out to be a very good chicken farmer, if they were mean or spooky I could get rid of them, if not they got names and get to die of old age.

He looks like a little banty cochin, very mellow little birds. I raised chickens for years and years, heavy breeds like Orphingtons and Wyandottes. The little banty roosters are much friendlier where the heavies want to gouge your eyes out lol. Very pretty little guy! Marian

Marian, very funny, that's exactly the two other breeds I have.

my girlfriend used to raise chickens for the eggs, oh the stories she had about the roosters. she had one she'd have to go into the henhouse armed with a metal trash can lid as a shield as this one particular territorial little critter would try and attack her! well, one night, she thought there was a weasel or a fox in the henhouse so armed with a shotgun (this is one of the sweetest little ladies in the world so the image of her with a gun doesn't compute) she go out to save her darling birds, but forgetting the trash can lid in her haste.
to make a long story short, she opens the door, the rooster attacks and she ends up blowing the henhouse to bits, including the demon rooster from hell.
she started buying her eggs from the grocery store after that.

LOLOLOL! I used to use old trashcan lids as a shield too!!! Those older roo's had spurs 2-3 inches long and pointy as hell! I stewed up many a rooster in my day, tough to the last bite too! Marian

Marian, very funny, that's exactly the two other breeds I have. I raised Blue Orphingtons and Golden Lace Wyandottes. I sold the flock of Blue's to a lady in Virginia for $400, they are very rare... Nice birds, but I like the Buff Orp hens, very kind birds... Marian

I have to admit that is a beautiful Rooster. Sounds like the ring of the phone sets him off crowing. Tami

Wow, Blue Orps are rare then. Were there many in the flock, $400 sounds like a really good price (unless of course you had 100 of them) My Buff Orps were hand raised by my sister in laws kids, it was their first go at chickens and every single one is a pet. Usually about half are really tame but in this group everyone is. I can't move around in the coup because everyone is huddled under foot. Your definitely right about a very mellow easy going bird. I call them the Golden Girls.
This years additions are the Silver Laced Wyadottes, half are neurotic and half are friendly. The 3 little Banty Cochin hens are the oldest and the little things rule the coup, but not in an aggressive way. If a big one challenges them they quickly put them in their place. I guess it's their Banty blood coming out in them. I had a Quail Banty hen and she was a terror in the yard. If she was having a bad day the cats and dog weren't even safe.
Tami, I figure it might be my voice that sets him off crowing. Some days if I play the radio too loud he starts up too.

Cute, I have a turkey named Sporty and he gobbles when he hears loud noises. Birds are kinda like kids, as soon as you're on the phone they start yappin lol! Out of all the birds I had I love the tom turkeys the best, theyare so sweet! The blue orp flock was my final flock from a 4 year long genetic project. There were only 6 hens and 1 big blue roo, the lady was thrilled to get them and she drove from Virginia to NJ to pick them up! Marian ps They eat alot of small rocks too, even the turkeys. The little rocks grind up the food in their crop cause they don't have stomachs.
