Here are some new points that I just finished this weekend. The spear point was done yesterday and the arrow point was done today. Both pieces were made from the same piece of raw material. The obsidian is jet black and is of flawless quality. That's what you might expect from Glass Buttes! This particular obsidian is also highly transparent, as some of the pictures suggest. Spearhead: 4-3/8 long x 1-1/4 wide x 1/4 thick Arrowhead: 3-14/16 long x 1-1/4 wide by 3/16 thick Thanks again for looking!

James - I have this problem with accepting things for free - I cant do it - not when so much effort went into the items. No way. I can send you a few of my own stones in return maybe - some which have come from their home ground - into the the US, found their way to members, then to me, then back to you? Thats the best I can offer on that front - dunno why but I like the "travelling stones" bit for some reason. What Im saying is that I have got to do something in return for a flint napping of yours - whilst I myself dont have the skill to do something as superb as that - I have to offer a price, or at the very least some of my own stuff from the board. "free" - Cant do that James. Pls would you PM me - and send in there your own address so I can return something to you. Free isnt an option Mark.

Those are so beautiful James. You have a special gift! It's so cool how you can see through them in the light. Have you ever thought you might have been an indian warrior in another life? Maybe so and you carried that gift with you into this life. That could also explain your need to get out of the city and back to nature. A special time for you to connect with your spirit!

Thanks for all the great feedback guys! I've been fascinated with Indian stonework since I was about 5 years old. But I never in my wildest dreams imagined that I'd be able to do it! I started flintknapping about a year ago. I did it for about a week right when I started and haven't really touched it since. It wasn't until my trip to Glass Buttes last weekend that I started again. You know, there are stories of Indian spirits visiting the living at Glass Buttes. Maybe one of them bestowed the power of the ancient upon me and I didn't even know it.

I remember reading that those who could make spear and arrowheads were extremely valuable members of the tribe and carried a high stature among the other members. Perhaps you were visited while you were there and a great gift has been bestowed upon you, giving you this talent. Sure hope you keep it up and continue to share them with us through pics, love the eye candy.

Really spectacular job on those, James. And that material is also spectacular -- when it is backlit, it looks like it's made out of crystal... great collecting run on your part!

James those are !fantaskic I like Mark would like to buy one if you ever get enough of them that you are willing to part with one. I've looked at them on ebay, but it would be nice to have one from a member. Perhaps you have just experienced the spiritwalk. It's hard to think of some one picking up that kind of skill that quick.
