Got a wild bug to do some wrapping. It's been months! Crappy picture, but the piece turned out pretty good. This is Mojave turquoise. I bought the cab. I love this stuff, but haven't bought any slabs, yet.

Pretty good, she says. I really like it. I love the colors in the stone and the wrapped accent wire on the top is pretty cool, too!

As you can tell from the sketch, I wanted to do a woven bail, but I changed my mind.

That is beautiful, Tela! I really like that wrapped wire at the top, too.
I love seeing the sketch, too! Do you sketch out all of your designs beforehand?

Not all of them, no. Anything other than a simple wrap and I do. I save them all, too, so I can go back and look for inspiration.

That is awesome. You definitely haven't lost any skills from the long time away from wrapping. I haven't wrapped in a long time either. I think it's great that you can sketch out your designs. I never have been able to do that. I have tried but it never works out anywhere near the sketch so I just wing it.

Some that I do sketch, don't come close to what the sketch was. LOL! Oh well.

It must be fun to look back at some of them long after the final product is gone. I have a friend who is a painter who laughs because I often like his preliminary sketches and rough drafts almost as much as his paintings. I find it interesting to see the evolution of the designs.

I wrote a book on wire wrapping a long time ago and I put images of the pages with the sketches next to the finished pieces. Maybe I can find them and post them. The pieces are all long gone...

Oh Tela!!! It's so good to see a new wrap from you...dare I say the first comeback of many more to come?? I really do love looking at your work. To me, it's how they're "supposed" to look. Flawless. And inspirational.

Beautiful wrap, Tela! Love the Mohave Turquoise. Because it's all reconstituted and smashed with the matrix under pressure, it's really easy to cut. No soft spots - just nice even hardness. Polishes like a breeze, too.
Good to see a new wrap from you!

Yeah, I'm not concerned about cabbing it, I just haven't gotten any. It's always really popular, though.

It is really cool. I would like to plagiarize all of your efforts, really! But I just can't think of any cool stuff myself. When I do find time to wrap, I just have enough time to do the same old thing. Haha. I can't imagine how long it takes to make these ones you do.
