Ground an dopped. I'll rough grind the domes this afternoon and finish tomorrow. I don't grind the tops square to the bottoms until after completing the doming through 280 soft. The tops are flared out on the preforms. The Morgan Hill is the incredibly shrinking cab. Kept taking in the edges and taking down the top until the vugs were gone. Tahoma, Badger Pocket Sycamore and Blue Dream.

Rough ground everything except the Morgan Hill. The Tahomas didn't change. The Blue Dream did what was expected with more light color on the bottom, but basically the same. The two sides on the Badger Pocket were very different and the edges showed parallel lines so I was curious about what would happen. The dark tip and the band below center are still there. The straight vertical lines became circular and that was a pleasant surprise. I now know what they will look like finished.

I love how that Badger Pocket is turning out! That is such an interesting material.

I bought a slab of this from Roy at Full Moon because a customer asked for it a year ago. A year later it was offered. This slab was bought at fullmoon at facebook recently. This is the standard description:
'This was dug in the late 60s before this area was off limits, it is now part of the Yakima Firing Center an Army training camp. A nice rough chunk loaded with the gorgeous pattern this wood is known for. This is a combination of opal and agate the color goes from a black (opal) to tan (agate) with a bit of cream color.'
The slab I got recently had a small area of black, but wasn't useable.

Really like the MHPJ. I got a few small slabs that I should really pull.

I like the pattern change in that pet wood, once you domed it. Spectacular!

I like the pattern change in that pet wood, once you domed it. Spectacular! Adrian I really like how it came out. The problem is that it has an atypical appearance. It should look more like this: Since it is pet wood it needs to have the right orientation when being slabbed and both the front and the back will look the same. The one I just made has just lines on the back and the doming caused orbs.
