Final Daily Update: All boxes have now arrived! That means I will announce the winner(s) tomorrow. Yes, the bonus box from oregon has arrived, too, so the winner of the bonus contest will be announced then, too. Get those final guesses in as the guessing will end at 8pm Eastern on Sunday. The new leader is MsAli ! So, I thought there was only one final box to be added. Are you saying the weight of the bonus box is now to be included? I know you mentioned something about that, then said there had to be a decision made whether to include it or not. What was decided? (Asking for a friend.  ) There are going to be two final prizes. The first one will be the same as originally stated and be the final weight of all the boxes that were part of the auction. The bonus box that oregon added will be added to the total weight of the 13 boxes to determine the extra winner. Sorry about the confusion! |

First of all, a great big thanks for making this a fun contest! This was just a small way to say thanks for being such a wonderful community, so thanks to all who guessed, looked at this thread, posted anything to make this a better place, etcetera, etcetera. And a giant thank you for all of those who so have so generously donated in the recent fundraising auctions! Enough words, let's get to the winners! With a guess of 216.09 pounds, our winner for the closest guess to the total weight is MsAli! That was our closest guess out of 138 guesses! Congratulations, Ali! The final weight of the 13 boxes from the auction donors came in at a whopping 218 pounds 9.4 ounces!! Believe me, that is a lot of rocks! I'm fairly certain I quadrupled our tumbling stock! And now for the bonus prize. oregon's bonus box raised the total weight to 226 pounds 1.5 ounces. With a guess of 226.374 pounds, our bonus winner is miket! Congratulations to both of you! I will reach out to you to get addresses to send your gift card. |

And just for fun, here is a picture I took of a fraction of the "scraps" included in just one of the boxes sent by Tommy. It took my kids and I over an hour to unpack that box because they had to show me every single one! We decided to spread some out on our table to take a group shot. There was some absolutely amazing stuff in that box!  And that is just part of 1 box out of the 13, make that 14(!) that we received! The generous donors went far above and beyond what they showed in the auction and it was an absolute blast to open up each box and see all of the wonderful surprises! There was poop (the good kind), thundereggs, a polished egg(!), fossils, lots of beautiful moss, incredible slabs, beautiful agates, rocks in every color of the rainbow, and some bonus surprises! Garage Rocker was not kidding when he said I was the big winner! I could have a giant post just showing off all of the amazing stuff that was literally stuffed in the box he sent! (My daughter really loved the special surprise bag!) I will try to post some new threads to show off some of the amazing winnings as we begin to work through them. We already have a batch running in the Lortone and another batch in the Lot-O. |
