I had ordered a really cheap piece of Maw sit sit a while back to try and see if polishes as well as some of the other jade/jadeite out there. The quality is questionable and the source may be as well as I bought it directly from Thailand. I like the bright color of green. Once I started to work with it I noticed right away it seem way softer than any Jade I have ever worked. Seeing it is more closely related to Jadeite I expected it to polish well. It seem to be 5 or 5.5 mohs. It grinds really quick for jadeite. I started using a 600 grit diamond wheel and that was still to course. All in all I did a kind of free hand cab and polished it some. I was wondering if anyone else has had the same issues or maybe I don't have the rock I thought I was ordering. I do have a couple more pieces coming from different vendors to hopefully confirm a few of these things. Attach (I hope) is a pic of what I am working on.

I might add that this stuff does not do well at all in the Lot-o

If I remember right, I used the 80 and 220 on it.

I rockhound the 4 corners or the earth and found some small Blue Biggs scraps from an ebay seller in Thailand. Largest piece is less than 40mm.

I exchanged messages and bought the item. The seller has a lot of Maw Sit Sit listed with very good descriptions.
