I had curls and swirls on it and hubby insisted they come off, he said it just needed to frame the stone so what do you guys think?

It's not my "normal" you can wear it either way pendant, it's kind of a mess so I didn't take a pic of it. The back doesn't show any of the lace so I wasn't worried about make it pretty. I can scan it if you'd really like me to.

Hi Cher , I have a feeling that your "hubby" is right.
To my feeling , the wirewrap should accentuate the stone. With this stone and it's nice lace , you should keep the wire away from the lace ...just my opinion.

Cher, I agree with Jack. The wire wrap should not be the focal point of the piece,it's the "gem" that should grab your eye right off then the artistic touch of the wire wrap.
I'm sure you have framed photo's or paintings, etc in your home. What would be the sense of having the frame run all over the place hiding the beauty of the "subject"?
My 2 cents worth.

Just to reiterate the theme. The mounting should accentuate the stone.
Save the creative metal work for a brooch/pendant without a stone. My opinion. Other people proably like the metal to be more center-stage.
This piece is very nice. Don't know if I like the swoop across the top of the stone - for the above reason. But your wire-wrapping is great work, the silver is a nice compliment to the stone without being distracting.

Thanks, I appreciate the input and the compliments. Most of the time I prefer a plainer style myself but sometimes you have to ask. The reason for the band across the top, needed some extra wrap to secure the stone and that covered a very slight fracture. I posted it on my forum and it sold instantly, the gal who bought said it was "to die for". *smile* Guess you can't beat a compliment like that.
Oh, by the way, my question of "what do you guys think?" was not meant just for "men" here but was just generic referrring to everyone here so ladies, your input is important too. I should have said "what do you all think?"

In that case the band across the top was functional and made the stone look better (covered up the fracture). I really do like the piece, just wanted to give a different perspective along with all the praise. Keep pumping 'em out.
