Had some time to squeeze a few in yesterday. Rather than use the light tent or go outside when it was still quite chilly today- I got pictures under the halogens again. But, this time I tried something different. I used some calcite crystal clusters that greig was kind enough to send me. I fell in love with one of them in a video, so he sent it to me along with a piece of silver ore and another cluster. Thank you! They make nice back drops and when I get a proper space they will find a nice display home.
Found this BEAUTIFUL chunk of rhodonite in my rough bin. It was this size but not a slab. Took some work, but I got it there. The depth in this is really something. It seems like rhodonite in quartz.
This is some copper complex from vegasjames with rosaite, cuprite and prolly malachite or bromargyrite in dolomite. That was a mouthful and I hope I got it right. It started out much larger and turned into a smaller freeform. The material is a pain to work, but the results are worth it. The rosaite (light blue) is much brighter in person.
azurite, cuprite, chrysocolla, malachite- This was a PITA to cab. The hardnesses were all over the place. It didn't start undercutting (slightly) until the 50,000. BUT, unlike the last azurite I did, this took a nice polish, so I don't mind the small amount of undercutting. (That little line at 7:00 is not a crack.)
Dead camel, I think.
stoney creek, I think. This was a little scrap, but like Pat- I love all things brecciated and had to save it from the scrap pile.
And here are the clusters. They would look much better outside in the sunlight and they aren't as yellow as in the pics. I like.
Thanks for looking and reading.

That Rhodonite is the bomb, Tela!
All really nice cabs and love the calcite crystals. Lucky you!

I'd like to say that Stony Creek is my favorite due to the brecciated nature...but I'll echo that the Rhodonite is the utterly fantastic! Great backdrop from greig!

Very well done! Great shapes and shine.Love your background idea. I'm in the process of re-organizing the rock shop again (2nd time this year) as I have some extra space and I'm going to set up my cutting station differently. Once that is done then I can get into my specimen cabinet and dig out some crystal clusters to try out your technique!

Beautiful cabs and the pictures look great! I'm going with the rhodonite as my favorite, pink and black always seems to work great together...

All nice, but that rhodonite is out of this world. I’ve never seen any quite like that. Amazing.
For the brecciated, Stoney Creek is very likely, but so is half of California (not literally, but you get the idea).

That’s a great backdrop! And a nice set of cabs. The rhodonite is off the charts!

Thanks everyone!! I see the rhodonite is a fav. I wish y'all could see it in person. The pink is like fluffy little pellets in clear something- I'm assuming quartz. Glad I took the time to do it.

Those calcite clusters are awesome. They do make great backdrops for those cabs which are awesome too.
