Words and music by L. Hays and P. Seeger If I had a hammer I'd hammer in the morning I'd hammer in the evening ... all over this land, I'd hammer out danger I'd hammer out a warning I'd hammer out love between all of my brothers and my sisters All over this land.
If I had a bell I'd ring it in the morning I'd ring it in the evening ... all over this land, I'd ring out danger I'd ring out a warning I'd ring out love between all of my brothers and my sisters All over this land.
If I had a song I'd sing it in the morning I'd sing it in the evening ... all over this world, I'd sing out danger I'd sing out a warning I'd sing out love between all of my brothers and my sisters All over this land.
If I've got a hammer And I've got a bell And I've got a song to sing ... all over this land, It's a hammer of justice It's a bell of freedom It's a song about love between all of my brothers and my sisters All over this land.

i also have a bit of concrete pad that serves no purpose, (i think it used to be a clothesline drying appliance base at one time?)...i have a few different cold chisels, but mainly use a sledge hammer. i wrap my intended victims in cheap plastic bags to keep most of the shards and pieces from escaping, as i'm afraid the sharper splinters may puncture the tires on the mower. i always sweep up after, as well.

Kim Rec'd my care package today. The rocks really look great as is, can't wait to start to tumble them. They will have to wait a couple of weeks because I just started a pre polish phase on some rocks today. I'll let you know when I do some of YOURS. I might even try to post some pics. Damn, I've only been in this hobby two months and I'm already wanting to buy more and better tumblers. Thanks for all your advise and help. Keep me on your list for future tumbling material. Umm. I definately like to whack those rocks but never use the chisel. Especially avoid cheap chisels. Often even high quality chisels used in such a manner will shed metal splinters at a high rate of speed which will really penetrate flesh. Rock hammers will shed such fragments too if they develop edges which overhand the hammers contour. Best to stick with safety glasses and gloves. I probably should use a towel but like see where I'm hittin to control my breaks. Use a big block of rhodonite in a back corner of the lot (real tough stone!) for my anvil and just hunt down the flyers. The whole thing is very theraputic if you don't damage yoreself too much!....mel

I mentioned this a long time ago, but since there are a lot of new folks, I'll bring up the subject of air chisels. If you have a compressor, pick up an air chisel and use it to break up rocks. I use mine all the time and it works great, especially when you locate a natural fracture in the rock. Sure beats swinging a hammer or sledge.
