The yellow looks pretty good to me.
By the way, Kim, that red breccia you gave me is outstanding stuff to tumble. It's been in 60/90 for less than two weeks and it looks like it could go right into polish when it's shaped up.

kim, sure glad i snagged some of that rainbow jasper from the box. now, i wish i had taken a bit of the yellow jasper. That green jasper is fantastic looking. It looks like some sort of conglomerate. I loved that cab you posted a week or two ago. btw, in addition to the rainbow jasper, i sampled the tiger stone and brecciated jasper. Are those all about the same hardness and can be tumbled together? They were farther down on the backlog of things to tumble, but i may have to move them up a place or two. matt

rich when you check your barrel again take a pic of it. i want to see!
matt other than to cut or hammer them i haven't done any in the tumbler yet so i don't know. i know the ironstone in the tigerstone is hard, hard and the hematite in it is softer so i was having big trouble slabbing it. my husband could almost not break this stone with a sledge hammer until i called him a sissy and asked if he needed me to help him lol. i think i'd run the jaspers together and the tigerstone alone.

Ok, since you seem to be the head whacker I have some sodalite, tigers eye, brecciated jasper, pet wood etc that needs broken up. Any suggestions on how to do it without ruining it? I know Redwoodrocks has said to use a cold steel chisel and a handheld sledge...but I don't have either of those...I have a rock hammer and a regular hammer....should I wrap the stuff in an old towel or something?

xena i have some chisels but my main tools are the hammer and safety glasses. some people cover their rocks with old t-shirts or towels, use a box to contain flying pieces, use a steel plate to protect the concrete......i have some concrete patches in my yard that really have no purpose (might have at some other time) so i don't care if it is damaged. i mow the surrounding area where i can see and bust them. if they go flying i go get the pieces unless they go under the holly bushes where i've seen cottonmouths. the safety glasses are the main thing. i end up cut and bleeding every time i bust rocks but my eyes are always intact! oh and i move our vehicles and get on a side of my house where i don't knock any windows out. maybe someone could show you a picture of that box in case you need to contain your flying pieces. i just let mine fly and go get them.

Mouthwatering. I think it's time to do some whacking! I do the same, Kim, we have an old concrete pad that had a purpose at one time, now it's where I break rocks. I do use a towel, as I have had shards come back and cut me, but I prefer just giving them what for! So much stone, so little time.

Sounds good, there is an old cement pad out by our fence at the apt.....I do believe I've got some whacking to do. After the week I've had here at work, I think it will be good therapy for me LOL. I do have to remind myself not to make the stuff into dust though LOL
