Wow, a $50 fee through Rio now, that's terrible. I used to send all my scrap to Rio Grande for credit but haven't been wrapping lately so don't have much scrap to send in plus I don't need a lot of wire. Glad you posted about this, saves me time looking into the topic myself when I do get back to wrapping and or buying wire. I'm going to check out Thunderbird now. Check good. I vaguely recall TB giving store credit instead of pay. Old brain and train often derails so check me on that.

Hauser and Miller is closing. Their site says they will take scrap for a limited time in 2021, not sure if they still are.

I use my scrap metals for small embellishments. 1- leaves, fold forms; the bottom thing was an effort to do multiple folds. Gauge is 34 --- my smallest. IMG_0753 by Pat6489, on Flickr 2-disks and washers These get soldered onto a lot of other items IMG_0752 by Pat6489, on Flickr 3- person with cape blowing in wind; I don't like his head/bail and will do something about it. IMG_0751 by Pat6489, on Flickr 4-person with cape without the wind. IMG_0750 by Pat6489, on Flickr I'm not finished with the person. Will add head and hat, embellishments on coat and feet..... Everything else is waiting for a turn. I've made numerous disk earrings of various sizes. Some textures made with rolling mill, others with hammers. Metal is red brass, copper and sterling.

I just have to compare wire prices. Yeah, a 50 flat fee is too much! I definitely agree.
