I finally have a chance to post some new pics of my Hampton Wood. I re-loaded my tumbler after 10 days in 1st stage. It looks like it's going to ba an awesome batch of wood. I did have to break up some more, because I didn't quite have enough to load both barrels again. I now have another load in 1st stage, and the other is in for 21 days for the 2nd stage.

A new broken up batch that got started. I am excited about this batch as well. I've got a few more pieces that will actually show the grain of some of the wood. Enjoy the pictures and I'll keep posting the progress. Thansk, Steve

Ooooooooo that stuff is beautiful! I can see why those are your favorite pieces, I love the colors. I've never seen anything like that, it's awesome. In the last pic there, a few more broken up pieces ... are those really just broken up as in with a hammer or are those pieces that have been sawed up? They look like they have such flat sides to them. Do you always find those colors? I've never seen green pet wood or the nice red stuff either. I don't find it often up here but did find one piece that's pretty cool, but very small. Thanks for posting them, waiting for more.

All those pieces are broken up with a hammer....on my dead-end street blacktop. (I just love living on a dead-end street) I've only gone hunting wood at this particular place once. There was lots of great wood just laying on the ground. Most of it is green, but lots of reds, oranges, and of course browns can be found. The luckiest part was, I found a whole section that weighed about 200lbs. Dug it up, took 3 of us to lift it into the truck, and now it sits displayed in my yard. It has all been turned to Jasper....the prettiest color of green imagineable. If it's sunny tomorrow, I will try to get some pics of it. It's been raining all day here, and I just LOVE IT!!! One thing I do hope, is that the tumbling will bring out the different patterns within. When I go out hunting wood again, I'll get enough to send to a few lucky ones. Thanks for the comments and the interest. Steve

Slobbering on the keyboard again. Thanks the pix, Steve. Can't wait to see the 200-lb yardart. The green wood is fascinating -- glad I grabbed a piece out of the box. I'm hoping to do a load of nothing but pet wood soon, trying to finish a batch of stuff my kids found now. These pix just make me anxious. And thanks again for the progression pix. matt

Here's a few more pics of some of the Hampton Wood in my yard. I hope I don't start boring evryone with pics. The first one is the big one. It isn't a clear picture, but the tape is stretched out across the top and it's about 19" wide. It is about 22" tall.

A more clear pic of the big'un. I really need to put some Opticon into the cracks so that it won't freeze and crack more this winter. Lots of browns and green Jasperized Wood. The back side of the piece. Just another piece that is in my yard. The green coloring is the actual color. It is the brightest green I've ever seen. This piece came off of the big'un as we were digging it out. Thanks for looking! Steve

Hey Steve , you can never bore a rockhound with rockpics so keep them coming my friend.
I love those petwood ones. You have some nice big pieces there. I did see some big chunks a few days ago , but they were too heavy for me to lift so took some smaller pieces home.
