The bone wood was collected near a stream west of College Station, Texas between 1964/66. My horticultural work at Texas A & M University included studying/working in the greenhouses and also field work. I noticed some rocks in the fields where I worked and asked some of the tractor drivers that worked the experimental field trials what I might be finding. They told me it was petrified wood and told me the location of the farms where they plowed it up and when it was safe to hunt(toxic sprays on the test plots). I don't know if this is palm but an enlargement of the top section of picture 1 could indicate palm. I did find non-descript palm in this area.
