Nice work on your first one. I like how you worked with the stone.

So, I've come back to this several times. Remember, I'm a "newbie" myself at wire-wrapping...but if it were mine, I'd be concerned with where you've made the bend at the bottom. I would have put binding wires right at the bottom as I would be concerned the wires (front and back) that are bent right there at the bottom wouldn't stay "put" and would eventually work themselves apart... Maybe someone with a lot more experience will chime in about that. I really do like the looks! (I'm just wondering about long-term stability...if that makes sense.) And I hope you don't take that as me being "hyper-critical" - I'm just wondering...

Jason, I appreciate your willingness to interact. You are exactly right. I should have had my binding wraps down by the point. I was following an instructor's loose guidance. After my own pondering I clamped the wires with a hemostat and used my wife's nail super glue Cant wait to post more. My lapidary shop and journey is just beginning. Johnny

Great job especially for your first wrap. I agree with Jason about putting wrap wires at the bottom to hold the stone in there better. Glue works although it will wear off over time and use. It looks like you have some wiggle room at the bottom so you might consider trying to put a wrap there by just slipping it in between the cab and the wires. It won't be as tight as when you do the wrap on the bundle before you form it to the stone but it will provide a little bit more stability. You can push the wires against the stone to flatten the wrap wires. Just a thought.
