Well not actually as I did get permission but I should see this in 6 to 8 weeks www.hplapidary.com/collections/slab-saws/products/highland-park-model-ht14-14-inch-precision-slab-saw-with-heavy-guage-powder-coated-steel-tank-powerfeed-crossfeed-vise-and-1-2-hp-110v-motor-greenline-agate-eater-sintered-diamond-bladeI decided that I'm sick of waiting for something local to appear (it isn't going to happen as I have been watching CL and local garage and estate sales for 16 years now). I found one local saw for sale in the last 16 years, and it was a beast (36") and they wanted as much used (20 years old and half the blade life remaining) as I could purchase new (with a new blade!) I tried to talk the guy down and he was convinced that he was sitting on pure gold and wouldn't budge. He was a nice guy and offered to cut for me. Wanted a buck an inch and 1/4 of the slabs (no idea if that was a good deal or not). Sadly he passed away a few years ago and his kids had a professional estate sale group come in and auction everything off. Saw went for $18000 ($3000 more than he was asking). Most of his other equipment was wholesaled out before the auction even started. Anyway I will be slabbing in aprox. 2 months! Had a nice chat with CS. She said that they have a container on the ocean and figure 4 weeks until it makes port. They prioritize setups for pre ordered (deposited) units and said it would be a week or so before mine would be ready to ship.

Congrats! We really do live in a lapidary desert and could literally wait a lifetime for anything decent to come up nearby.

It feels good to have a new tool (toy). Enjoy it and drive it safely.

Saw is supposed to make port on the 18th! So far communication has been outstanding. I have been sorting thru the rough I have and decided a hunk of obsidian is going to be first (for break in purposes). Beyond that I'm at a loss as to what to cut, but will probably slab up a hunk of Dino doo from Randy.

It's been cutting almost every single night since I set it up that holiday season, a lot of miles on it, and haven't had even one problem. I thought for sure I'd have needed to do some work on it by now because I've really run it hard, but it's just now finally needing a cross-feed carriage adjustment. I think you're going to be more than happy...until you reach that next step where you're trying to get permission for the bigger one

LOL I was going to get a 16 but they jump $1200 and you only pick up like 1/4 of an inch in cut height (if I'm reading the specs correctly). 18" is way out of my range. I have always purchased rock with a 12" saw in mind so everything I currently have will fit (how smart am I!). Of course I will be very careful to make all future purchases with the 14" in mind (yea right!)
