Found this today for $2.00 and could not resist. The slab is about 20" long by 7" wide. It reminds me of a desert scene. I am not sure what type of rock it is.

I believe that is a type of wonderstone from New Mexico. I cannot for the life of me remember what it is called, but I got a hunk of it years ago and was told they actually make huge murals with it. Looks exactly like yours! Beautiful rock.

I have 3 or 4 pendants made of this stuff. (I didn't make the pendants, I just bought them.)

Nice catch Kanab picture sandstone from Utah ? 1dave $2.00 ? I'm jealous! Perhaps, but I don't think so. Picture sandstone is usually large and gritty with thick lines. I think it is more like smooth textured Idaho Owyhee Jasper or nearby claims. forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/post/1048833/threada chunk of Kanab Sandstone in my front yard.

1daveOne side is perfectly smooth. The pictured, front side, has the appearance of some type of sandstone. The smooth side reminded my of Owyee jasper. That is why I am confused. I can post a pic of the smooth side if this would help.

I looked some more and have to agree with roy - It is most likely Kanab Sandstone.
