A whole lot going on in that first one. All are excellent finds. I really like the second from bottom. I am a sucker for agates that have darker areas.

Tim, it's nice to see you posting again! It would appear I'm looking in all the wrong places for Fairburns if you're finding eight in an outing! They are all amazingly, stunningly, breathtakingly, awe-inspiringly, enviously, remarkably gorgeous! I've been putting off going down to Fairburn...but now you're making me really want to get down there. I'm thinking I should make time later next week.

Heya Jason I've never found a fairburn near Fairburn lol. Not sure these really qualify, they're from the southern edge of the hills within a couple miles of Hwy 16. I used to hunt Teepee Canyon / Sawmill Springs pretty exclusively, but since they're still closed decided to try some other spots in that general area and had decent luck. Some nice hills up Mud Springs road.
Looks like you've been finding great material around the Buffalo Gap region. I need to get out to the grasslands again, there's just so much gorgeous rock to pick through out there.

I've found some on some private property just south of Fairburn along the Cheyenne River...but I don't think I've found any out on the Agate fields! LOL I have a contact who owns private property that borders the grassland and I might be able to get into some areas that aren't really accessible to most, so I've got some high hopes for some "fresh" hounding grounds sometime soon this Spring. I know it's been talked about (argued) that the agates found in the Black Hills aren't "true" Fairburn Agates...but I still believe they are. I didn't know that the Teepee area closed down over the winter. I went out there in March when there was a spell of warm weather. I hadn't been down there before, so I had no clue where I was going. I ended up going in along a back road (I thought it was the right one - it wasn't), and unbeknownst to me, I ended up at the south end of the main dig. My wife and I didn't find anything where we were at...and as we left for the day, I'm pretty sure I saw where we were supposed to go - and the gate was closed and chained. If you ever want some company when you head over there, give me a shout. I'd love to learn some things from someone who's been over there quite a bit. I'm not great for anything with regards to informational, but I might be a great comic relief! LOL I saw you're from over in Newcastle. I used to go over there once or twice a month to do some work. I really like Newcastle, and had some great people as customers there. The Senior Center in particular! I used to try and plan to go over their on Fridays for their caramel rolls! LOL If you ever want to head clear over to Railroad Buttes, give me a shout. I'm always game to go out there too.

jasoninsd yeah I could show you the main spots at teepee, I believe the roads there open next Saturday 5/15. They close for Winter first of November i think. I'll shoot you a message next time i head that way, or if i get a wild hair and plan a trip to RR buttes or something that direction.
Yeah the Senior Center here is nice. Refinery in the back yard, not so nice, but what you gonna do.
