I'm assuming the brown areas were softer than the white? (That was more of a question than a statement! LOL) You did better than I have been doing lately with different hardness variants in a cab.

I've got two new (replacement disks) showing up on Monday, so I've got a "learning curve" coming up too!

Basalt normally does not take a shine. That turned out great.

Quartz & basalt is one of my favorites; but I find is basalt hardness is really hit and miss; When you can get it to shine, it is an amazing feeling! Great job on this one!

Thanks for sharing, I think I have some from the north shore of Lake Superior. I will have give it a try. Pretty sure that's where this one came from too. Try it out!
