finally cutting into more Hadro-poop from RWA3006. Looking forward to slabbing the red and black. 2 Cuts from Miket, one maybe a Fairburn and can't tell what the other is, but it develops a wider pinkish layer the deeper I go. Third, does anyone know what this is? Rhodonite in quartz? The slab they came from has to be 30 - 40 years old. No clue where I got it, but I'm going to get 5 - 7 stones out of it, so would love to know what it is. Bill

I'd say it is CA rhononite in quartz. Certainly rhodonite.
What are the ones in the first pic? Dino dookie? Those are my favs.

The one's from miket - the one on the left is a Prairie Agate - the one on the right sure looks like it's a Fairburn from a distance!

The gray in the rhodonite is likely to be rhodonite that had little or no manganese. Rhodonite has the chemical formula (Mn2+,Fe2+,Mg2+,Ca2+)SiO3. The higher the manganese, the deeper the pink. It could also be bustamite (CaMn2+Si2O6), or calcium oxide. Quartz is possible, but I’ve only had one such piece, so I suspect it’s rare.
