I was going to title this thread 'A mess of Mescalero', but I lost three to the trim saw and will probably lose at lest one to the wheels. I check for fractures when designing but the material is brecciated which should be spelled breakiated. I looked at the back of the top right preform and needed to move it a little before grinding because of a chip. I ground the edges to dop and I really liked the pattern on the back. I was thinking about making the back the face but the edges showed me that it would grind off. I thought about making it a flat top polished on both sides, but then the faces have to be lined up perfectly. I am going to polish the bottom and then dome the original top.

I'm working on the three circled Mescalero, Two Owyhee and a Morgan Hill. This Mescalero is going to be nice. Through 280 soft.

I've had a sore back for about a week; just muscles and it is getting better. I'll have the 6 cabs finished tomorrow. The Mescalero is done. The Morgan Hill has a hump on the right side that needs to be fixed.

I'm very picky when I buy slabs. I look at altamont's listings regularly. He has a lot of pictures which helps. The slab on the left had one amazing scene. The one on the right looked solid and I studied it looking for fractures and pits. I laid out 4 preforms and lost 3 to the saw. Mescalero has amazing colors but it comes with a curse.
I sold the back polished cab and spent it all shopping at full moon. I don't sell for income. I sell to buy material that I couldn't buy If I just made cabs.

They look like they're cut right out of a Pollock painting. Well done
