First stage is with 80grit for about a week then I wash after each stage with 2tp of borax in a 3lb barrel for a couple of hours. Second stage 200 grit third stage 400 grit then last stage polish, I usually run each stage for a week and put 2tp of grit in 3lb . I'm new to tumbling and only been doing it for a couple of months. Just put a barrel in for last stage polish. Iv seen people put a tp of borax in the polish stage but is that OK. I hope I get some tips

I used to add borax to each stage but then I ran out once so I stopped lol. I do use it for a final burnish after polish. I also add a step between fine grind (in your case the 400) and polish. I use Tripoli as a pre-polish (I think it is around 1200 or 1500 grit). I run my stages a bit longer (course guns until rocks are ready-made i.e. I pull out the good ones and keep the not ready one in the course grind) I check my barrels every 2 weeks for the course, medium and fine. I run my pre-polish and polish for 3 weeks each. I think my longer runs are a bit of laziness on my part, but I do like my results!
