Lets tumble it for a week before I take the angle grinder to it - cause life is busy right now... Week 0: 3169g (~7lbs) going into 36 SiC with a pile of quartz. That's the big brazilian territory there (that 9lb football that I stopped grinding after 6 weeks and need to come back to). But if it fits, it sits! Rock and roll!

Interesting. I am curious as it does not look like what I have been shown to be Bloodstone, not dark enough. It does appear to be more like a Pudding Stone or a conglomerate of some sort. Please note, my knowledge of this material is limited so I am not sure.

Please note, my knowledge of this material is limited so I am not sure. Henry Hey Henry. I have been meaning to reply, but kept getting distracted whenever I remembered. I'm not really familiar with Bloodstone myself, so best I can tell you is what I know. The box at Handley's was labeled Bloodstone. Top Tier? Bottom Tier? Dunno, but was $6/lb. It seems fairly uniform in hardness, meaning the red, greenish, and agatey-looking areas seemed to grind at the same rate, no noticeable undercutting. Again, I don't know anything about bloodstone to know if that is expected or not. I wanted to make a point to show wet/dry pics here, because that polish is not quite bringing out the colors (re: dissatisfied with the polish) Dry/wet one angle: Dry/wet another angle: I'm all ears if anyone has more insights. It's nice to be able to put a proper label to things. Anywho, Cheers!

This is Cherry Orchard Agate aka African Bloodstone. Not to be confused with Bloodstone of the Indian origin which is green Jasper with red spots. They do look quite different.
