The first pic is from the trip to Teepee Canyon today. This fissure was located in the same spot as the first pics in the thread. The fissure is about 14" wide, 4 feet high, and about 15.feet deep. I wanted so badly to try and squeeze in there as I could see Teepee Canyon Agate nodules in the sides of the fissure. HOWEVER, the entire area is extremely unstable...so it was an easy decision not to try it. I had to actually bust nodules out of the walls of the dig site today. Got a couple nice ones. I got one massive nodule, but it is whole, so I don't know if there's fortifications or not yet. I'll have to cut it to find out. The second pic is one of the pieces from the last trip. Yes, it has jumped to the next in line spot! LOL - I think it looks like the Batman symbol. Jason, your decision to not "squeeze" into that spot was a very good one. Your picture shows a good bit of unstable rock just waiting for the right time to drop. Good choice. I have seen a couple collecting places closed down due to death or injury. Henry

It really wasn't a decision per se...as there was only ever one "choice" - which was not to go in.

I didn't think I was going to actually work this cab tonight...but again impatience rears its ugly head for me! LOL There's a small fracture at the base of the cab, but it held together... This material is SO nice to work!

Ooh... speckles AND fortifications... Nicely cabbed to show it all off. Nice work.

Ooh... speckles AND fortifications... Nicely cabbed to show it all off. Nice work. Thanks Stephan! The speckles were a surprise! When I used the template, the shape wasn't quite big enough to capture all the pattern (as shown in a previous pic). So, I "eye-balled" the distance around the pattern when grinding the shape. Darn little fracture at the bottom...but as I learned from you - wabi-sabi! That’s beautiful, Jason! That last shot is absolutely spectacular!!! Thanks Brian! I was looking at it through a loupe last night, and there are little orbs going around the circumference of the fortifications. I'm going to see if I can get a picture of those later today and post it in the Orbicular thread.

Oh man, the fortification in that stone is amazing! You picked a great shape to showcase the fortification. It fits perfectly.

Very nice, Jason! As you well know, Teepees are my second favorite rock to hound- even though they can be a pain to work sometimes. Maybe you should take me to that fissure, I'm pretty skinny and sure I can squeeze in...

I can write a confined space entry permit for miket. All you’ll need is a hard hat, bracing, scaffolding, a rescue tripod and lifeline, some walkie-talkies and two spotters. And, of course, a personal liability waiver.

hummingbirdstones - Thanks Robin! miket - Thanks Mike! I'd be more than happy to take you there...but you ain't goin in there! stephan - I think I got the orientation right on this one! First 3 pics: This is the biggest nodule I've found so far. There was no indication of any fortifications on the exterior, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I'd say jackpot though! LOL Pics 4-6: Some other nice ones cut today. I can write a confined space entry permit for miket . All you’ll need is a hard hat, bracing, scaffolding, a rescue tripod and lifeline, some walkie-talkies and two spotters. And, of course, a personal liability waiver. Perfect. I'm in.

Jason jasoninsd , nice TP nodule, and perfect orientation! You only get one shot at cutting it the first time. I'd say you did very well. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good!

Thanks Mike! Most of the cuts today were on whole nodules. I had no clue what was going to be on the interior...so they were kind of (change that to REALLY) fun to cut! LOL Right!?! LOL Thanks Stephan! Oh...and Mike said he was "in" if you wrote up the confined space entry permit - I'd be afraid if he was "in", he wouldn't get "out"! LOL Jason jasoninsd , nice TP nodule, and perfect orientation! You only get one shot at cutting it the first time. I'd say you did very well. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good! Thank you so very much! I was just saying the other day to someone those EXACT same words about being lucky! LOL - I did have an idea that direction was going to be the best results on that nodule. Most of them are an oblong oval shape, so cutting "lengthwise" should most of the time yield the largest fortification pattern...in theory! LOL

LOL Well, technically, that’s what the tripod is for, but good point... just in case we’re not fast enough, we’ll add some digging equipment: shovels, pick-axes, rakes and dachshunds. We’ll get him out. Can’t guarantee his condition, but we’ll get him out.
