As title states...had high hopes for these 3 but between undercutting, unseen fractures and pits opening up left me little bummed. Altho, I don't think they are super obvious in pictures I still know they are there. But thought I'd share nonetheless. First up is some clear creek plasma agate I got while back from Dr DG and finally got around to cutting. Not sure how I didn't get into this sooner. Love the material but undercutting and fractures turned this one into a goofy shape. Got tired of trying to shape it up better so just went with it. Daughter loves it so guess not all is lost. Next up is East Java plume agate by way of opalpyrexia If remembering correctly. There are some pale green areas that really undercut but didn't see a way of getting around it so left them in there. Last up is my favorite of the bunch. The slab came with my genie purchase and was labeled graveyard point plume. Think the plumes are marcasite. The pit opened up on the 1000 wheel... I see a fiery tornado tearing up the ground. Thanks for looking!

I think they look great, love the shape of the second one! I'm trying to accept some flaws in the stones that I've been working instead of throwing them in the trash. They are rocks, after all and some are just too nice to get rid of for minor "imperfections." 'Course, that's just my opinion...

I think they all look pretty good! I like the flaming tornado in the third one and the plumes in the second one.

As most of us know, we are all our own worst critics... I see nothing "wrong" with any of them. I really like that second one...and the tornado ain't bad at all either!

I like them a lot! The 2nd and the 3rd ones are anything but disappointments. I'd rather call them beauties.

I also like all three. You can't go wrong when someone loves your work. Your daughter's Plasma cab has a Fall scene with trees shedding leaves along a river bank, while the river carries leaves and vegetation down and to the left.
I haven't yet cut any of my East Java Plume. After seeing yours I'm really motivated now.
As for the 3rd cab, well, "We're not on the ground, Toto!"

All 3 of them are really nice. My personal fave is the East Jave - it's yummy!

Thanks Mike! I'm in the same boat trying to accept some flaws in the stones, as this thread proves lol. I realized recently I probably have 3 times as many unfinished cabs than polished ones. Many due to natural flaws in the stone that I knew wouldn't grind away so just stopped working them at some point. May have to get my lot o going again and see what happens with them.

You are right about being our own worst critics! But seeing the amazing work put out here sure makes it hard to not to pick my own work apart lol.

Your depiction of the plasma cab is spot on with what I was trying to capture! but honestly all I see now is the goofy shape I ended up with lol. I always enjoy reading what you see in a cab! Thanks!

I would always shy away from trying inside curves until you made a tutorial on how to do it. Still not in the same ballpark as yours but I'm getting more comfortable doing them and improve little by little!

I can’t see any problems in the pics, but I definitely know the, “but I know they are there phenomenon.” Plasma and plume agates are definitely known for being challenging wabi-sabi.
Putting in another vote for #2, but all three look pretty far good.

Far good? Really, auto-correct? How about “pretty darn good”?

No disappointments from where I'm sitting. They ALL look great but you got another vote for #2 being #1.

Putting in another vote for #2, but all three look pretty far good. Yeah, was my first time working with plasma agate but had read plenty about the challenges that come with it. But man I can see the allure of it. Thanks for the kind words!
