Struggled a bit with this one, the wires on both top sides just won't snug up. Anyway, thanks for looking!

Mike, you created an amazing shape on that cab. It followed the fortifications with some additional material there on the left just beautifully well! I've seen several examples of "floating" cabs inside a wrap...you can always say this was the intent. I don't think it looks bad at all.

This stone is awesome, miket!
I see what you're saying about the wire toward the top. When you have cabs with concave (or convex) curves, try forming the wires in the direction of the curves gently with your fingers making them just a bit tighter the the actual curves. When you go to close the top and make the bail, the wires on the sides should be really close to the stone and you can just nudge them a bit for a close to perfect fit. Does that make sense?
I really like the wrap!

I really like this and your bail came out good, too. Sometimes you just can't get away from some gap. Yours doesn't seem too bad.
Look at the top binding in the left side of this picture. You see how it goes at an angle? That's part of the trouble. The bottom wires coming from the bundle are kicked out slightly. That was caused because you pinched the top too soon. If you had bent it closer to the top of the cab, it wouldn't have kicked out. Does any of that make sense. Hard to describe. The other side demonstrates the "right" way. You see how the bundle is bent closer to the tip of the cab? So, the bindings are lying flat.
Sometimes, it helps to take a Popsicle stick and rub it down the side to coax the wires into place.

That makes perfect sense. I actually tried to do that with this one, but when I pulled in the wires on the front and back it seemed to make those worse. If I'm explaining that correctly. The cab might be a little thick- I wonder if that has something to do with it? Anyway, thank you for the compliments and advice, I appreciate it!

Thank you, ma'am! I was pretty pleased with this bail- and of course the gap doesn't look AS noticeable in person.
I do see that. I get what you're saying- perhaps I should have slid the two top binding wires higher? It's supposed to be 85-90 here today so a popsicle wouldn't hurt!

Seems like yesterday that it was snowing where you are.... and I thought our weather was crazy. Raining here today, but we've had some 90+ days.

Our thermometer is reading 95 right now. A popsicle sounds great right about now.
Great tip, Tela!

I think it looks great. I was told by someone that the little imperfections is what makes the piece look handmade which it is.

I do agree with that statement- although some of my stuff looks more handmade than others... But that is definitely one thing that I really enjoy about everything that people make and share here- each piece is unique, each piece is one-of-a-kind.

Miket, the piece that you made looks fine. I am sure that as a stone and wire artist that you are always comparing what you produce against others and am sure you see minor imperfections when a layman wouldn't.

You're welcome Mike. I enjoy the uniqueness and one-of-a-kind or people's creations too.

That cab is amazing. I love the fortifications and moss. It reminds of one of those color splash photos, where most of it is in b&w, and one element s left in color.
I like the wrap, too.

Thank you, Stephan. I have to admit, I was a bit disappointed when I first cut the stones. If you google Agua Nueva Agate and look at the images you see all kinds of fortifications with really bright colors.
But now I do like what I got out of them. I like the moss, too, and there were plenty of fortifications for this addict.

Check out the different kinds of Agua Nueva agate that The Gem Shop has...I think it really matters which kind you get as to the fortification content... thegemshop.com/collections/rough-rock-1

I've put this stuff in my cart several times, but still haven't pulled the trigger. God knows I don't "need" any more material at the moment! LOL
