I just started using a new lot o tumbler. I watched videos, read tutorials and felt very familiar with the technique. I ran stage 1 for two days and then proceeded to stage two 500 prepolish. After 24 hours the motor just stopped. I had been checking the tumbling action several times throughout the day adding mists of water when needed. I had checked it at 2 am and added water. At 10 am it was somewhat dry so I misted it again. The moter failed around noon. I don't understand why this happened. The unit is on the floor in the middle of the room with nothing blocking air flow. After a couple hours we plugged the motor back in and it started to work. I will be contacting manufacture after weekend but I am fearful to use it again. Any thoughts or suggestions??

I forgot to mention that all the rocks had been tumbled in our rotary tumbler first and were smooth and rounded. I also used small ceramic media to cushion the rocks.

Likely a thermal overload switch that protects motor from an overheat. When it cools down it resets, hence working again now. If you run it, keep an eye on the temp. A fan will likely get you by till you get a replacement. May have to mist the slurry more though.

My 33B seemed to be really hot, so at the risk of being made fun of, I will post a pic of the mod. I really need to get one of those directional IR temperature laser things. Anyway, there is more air circulation through it and seems cooler to the touch...
