Holy cow, that is amazing! What a pattern. I wonder how much of that pattern has to to with orientation, and how much is one-of-a kind luck.
The second one… the inside is definitely odd. The outside looks like it came from Area 54.

The outside looks like it came from Area 54. Right!?! Thanks Stephan! I'm going to guess it's a one-off. I've never seen (in my limited experience) another Botswana with this kind of chaos in the fortifications, regardless of the orientation of the cut. I just took a real close look and it appears the fluctuations in the fortifications are tied to those "tubes" leading into the center of the nodule. That second one is a conundrum for sure! I'm hoping The Gem Shop gets back to me for an ID...

OK I did not read alll the intervening posts. But #2 is Amygdaloidal Basalt. And to my eye the Bots in image one looks more like a laker to me. If they are from the Gen Shop in Cedarburg, WI it is a good possibility something got in the wrong pile. Both the A. Basalt and the Laker would come from the same area Yooper land or northern WI. You know how the glacier was pushing stuff around everywhere. Just my $0.02.

Yes, the first one did come from the Gem Shop in Cedarburg. So, I just Googled Lake Superior Agates just to take a look at as many pictures as I could...man they are so similar to Botswana Agates! However, I did see a couple shots where the fortifications were skewed kind of like they are in mine...you may have ID'd this one as well. Of course I'd like to just think it's a Botswana that had a little too hard of a time during the 60's! LOL
