These are my rejects from the past 18 months. Stuff that had grit-trapping pits, cracks or other flaws that kept them from being polished with the better material. But stuff that I felt was worth keeping, and tumbling as a "junk batch" when I had enough to do a full barrel. They shined up rather well I think, considering that there was so much opportunity for grit carry-over. Approximate recipe was: 60/90 - from 2 weeks (small confetti jasper pieces) to 8-10 weeks (Brazilian agate) 120/220 - about 8 days 500F - about 11 days CPP polish - 13 days Brazilian agate: Blue lace agate (the only stuff here that I haven't previously posted a batch of "firsts" of: Turitella agate Tree agate (nice pattern, but full of vugs) mystery agates varied stuff - confetti jasper, white quartz, purple quartzite, amethyst, plus some mystery rocks Darned if I didn't find more gold in some of the amethyst: Ocean jasper A few ocean jasper close-ups Petrified wood (I recently posted a batch of "firsts" of this, so won't dwell on it here) But I will include this close-up of a couple pieces of what Sabre has said may well be petrified fern, plus some other mystery but interesting patterned wood Thanks for looking! I've had a good run of batches out of polish over the past month or so, but all that ends now . Everything I'm tumbling now is still in coarse grind, so no hope of any polished stones for at least a month, hopefully I will have something before two months pass. Anyway, back to the grind...

Your junk is better than some finished batches I've seen posted. But I really wouldn't expect less form you.

Junk bucket!! Your junk bucket is nothing like my junk bucket. So many cool ones but I keep going back to that Ocean Jasper. Makes me want to start takeing some chunks off my 2 chunks that I decided to display as rough. (Need to get that thought out of my head)

If that is your junk bucket you could send them to me and I will save you the trouble of storing that awful junk. (I am such a considerate fellow)

Thanks for the comments, everyone! The shine came out well on these, but many do have pits, chips or other flaws, which is why I call them "junk". Some will earn a spot in my indoor rock displays, many will find their way to our outdoor table-top fountain. Everything in its proper place.
