I always take a inner tube to use as a floatbag when i dive, you just never know ! This is the largest one i ever pulled out at 230 pounds, this one i did strain my arms as i didn't have a lift bag !

Jee-freaking-sus!! So THAT's how you find those suckers! You must be able to spot a Jade boulder under 60ft of water and from 20ft away by now! I have to settle for the tiny little bits of red/blue jasper that wash up on the shores here on a certain beach but if I was diving offshore I bet I could find that grandfather stone and hit the jackpot!! If I found something like that, I could afford to buy all the gear to slice & cab it up by selling half of it on deposit!

Nephrite- So you would be like the cat that reaches thru the hole to grab something and not let go??? People would be asking "anyone see Neph lately? " Meanwhile you're down on the sea floor with your arms wrapped around a 150lb'er, refusing to let go!!!!!!

Gaetz your right, when I find a piece of jade underwater I become possed. My wife dreads everytime i dive for jade, thinking that very thing could happen. I have be been known too take my tank my tank off underwater so i can sqeeze into a cave to get the extra leverage to pry out a boulder with my crowbar. I have also come close to running out of air knowing that if i don't get it now i won't be able to find it again. I have lost many pieces that way or found one at the end of the day and no more tanks left. Some people think its crazy but thats part of being rockhound. If you don't do the things you like in life, life would be boring !

Neph,
When you are diving for jade why don't you pack a few tether markers with you?
If you see something you can't get up to the surface on that dive, you can anchor a tether marker to it so you will see the bright orange marker floating above it next time you dive in that area. GPS will get you within 6m of it on the surface then all you have to do is go back down & grab those babies!
